Ensoniq ESQ-1 Synthesizer Keyboard w/ Case #57578

Availability: In stock

$495.00

Details

WORKING CONDITION: Good. Upon start-up, the keyboard shows a message saying that the internal battery is low and will need to be replaced. This disappears after a few seconds, and the factory patches load in and work as normal. It just should be noted that the battery will need to be replaced at some point for memory functions to work including the ability to read cartridges. Because of the low battery, the cartridge reader is not loading sounds.

All faders, buttons, switches, chassis, and keyboard respond well, and both the Pitch and Modulation wheels have great action. The sequencer records and plays back as it should over all available tracks.

PHYSICAL CONDITION:
Excellent. All faders, buttons, switches, chassis, and keyboard are in excellent condition.

The included hard case is old but built like a truck, with both the handle and latches in working order. It has more room than needed for this synth and needs some additional padding inside to keep the synth stable. We'll add additional padding inside and ship the case inside a box for added protection in shipping.

  • Similar to the Mirage synth/sampler, the ESQ-1 was Ensoniq's highly affordable and impressive digital synthesizer, released in 1986. Although the waveforms are digital in nature, the filters are all analog as on the Mirage. In fact, for a digital synth the ESQ-1 has many good old analog-synth features such as a ring modulator, sequencer, and oscillator-sync. The envelopes and LFOs are can be freely routed to each DCO, VCA, and  / or VCF.

What really sets the ESQ-1 apart from other similar synths is the voice architecture. Choose from analog, digital, or samples, or any combination, since there are three independent oscillators per voice.
