Details
WORKING CONDITION: Excellent. Three octal and three 9-pin vacuum tubes were tested. Five valves tested "Good" and one tested "?" suggesting the tester operates as it should.
PHYSICAL CONDITION: Very Good. There are signs of age on the external enclosure, but the chassis is sound, all of the switches work properly, and the tube sockets are all in very good condition.

BRAND: Electronic Measurements Corporation
MODEL: Model 213
FUNCTION: Vacuum Tube Tester
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION: This listing is for an EMC Model 213 Vacuum Tube Tester w/ Manual. The EMC Model 213 Vacuum Tube Tester, manufactured by the Electronic Measurements Corporation (EMC) of New York, is a vintage, compact, and flexible "service-type" emission tube checker. It is primarily designed to assess vacuum tube quality and check for internal elements shorting or leaking. It is highly regarded by vintage radio hobbyists and guitar amplifier technicians for its portability and straightforward operation.
SPECS:
- Test Type: Model 213 is an emission tester. It applies a standard AC voltage to the tube elements and checks the total electron emission against known-good baselines. Note that it does not measure dynamic mutual conductance (transconductance).
- Power Requirements: Built for standard 105–130 volt AC, 60-cycle electrical lines.
- Indicator System: Features an NE2 neon bulb used explicitly for visual shorts and leakage tracking.
- Relationship to Model 215: The internal circuitry of the EMC 213 is structurally identical to the EMC Model 215. The only functional difference is that the Model 215 incorporates an additional solid-state transistor checking circuit.
- Shorts Testing: Before checking for overall quality, turn the 12 lever/slide switches one by one from the "K" position to the "P" position (excluding the specified filament switches noted on your chart). Watch the neon indicator bulb to confirm no short circuits exist.
- Quality Testing: Set your filament voltage selector, element slide levers, and the shunt control knob exactly as dictated by the setup chart. Read the main analog meter to determine if the tube falls into the green ("Good"), yellow ("?"), or red ("Bad") zone.
ACCESSORIES INCLUDED: This item comes as seen in photos and includes its original Operating Manual.
