Details
WORKING CONDITION: Excellent- plays like a dream; you know it the second one hand grips the neck and feels that 60 years of aged wood. Low action and clean notes make this guitar easy to play. Currently set up with brand new 10-gauge strings. Effortless bending, chording, and lead playing up and down the neck. Comes out of the personal recording arsenal of producer Fred Archanbault and its session ready! All electronics, pickups, knobs, and switches working nicely.
PHYSICAL CONDITION: Very Good- Going by the neck pocket, it looks like the guitar started off as Candy Apple Red and then was stripped down to bare wood and sealed with a nice satin finish. It was done well. Both the neck and body feel delightfully natural, smooth, and warm. Original tuners were replaced; the neck was very nicely re-fretted (see pics). The pickups are original, but the 3-way switch and a tone pot were replaced. The current bridge is a new Made in Germany model; not sure of the brand, but it has rollers on it, which help with the tuning significantly. The original 1965 Bridge is included.
The neckplate and bridge both have mild abrasions that look like someone wiped them with a heavy-grit polish and probably regretted it afterward. The pickguard has a few wavy spots but remains secure. Overall, a perfectly solid and stable classic for guitar players or producers who want the aged feel and sound of a vintage guitar but need a little modern reliability.
